And it is propose to use battery cage systems in Ghana to help intensify farming and meet market demand for chicken as well as eggs.
The popularity of laying hen production can be explaine by the many advantages that poultry has over other livestock. Chickens are good converters of feed into usable protein in meat and eggs. The unit production cost is relatively low and the return on investment is high. Therefore, farmers need relatively little capital to start a poultry farm.
In addition, regardless of their religious beliefs, poultry meat is tender, highly acceptable to consumers, and has a market.
